WELCOME TO PIANO STUDIO DI.
MISSION STATEMENT: Encouraging a lifetime of making-music enjoyment
I am so happy that you are considering music classes, and I would love to open the world of piano to you or your child. Music is fun! It meets basic emotional needs and provides a structured forum for developing self-discipline, problem-solving skills, and self-expression. More than just nurturing the ability to produce beautiful music, playing the piano also builds skills that can help students succeed in many other aspects of life. Piano lessons:
- Incorporate practicing habits that instill lifelong discipline skills.
- Increase the dexterity and independence of each hand and encourage cross-hemispheric thought processes.
- Build self-esteem and offer a great sense of accomplishment through conquering musical challenges.
- Develop concentration skills and the ability to coordinate many concepts at once.
- Expose students to a well-rounded, broader base of knowledge.
Research consistently shows that making music enhances your child's brain functions. Did you know that the period of greatest neurological development is from birth to 6 years? During this time, a child's brain is making connections from neuron to neuron at a rate which will never again be repeated during their lives. These neural connections facilitate learning and strengthen the child's ability to reason in disciplines such as higher mathematics and science. When certain connections are not made during these formative years, learning must go through different and more complex pathways. As a child grows, the neural connection rate slows and certain learning windows pass.
Children are born musical, so now is the time to nurture that innate musicality! Music encourages children to explore their imagination. While society seeks to lessen the pressures on oversized classes and overburdened teachers at school, private piano lessons provide a rare opportunity for crucial one-on-one instruction.
I apply the best of traditional piano teaching methods to engage each child’s musical aptitude. Students are encouraged to work towards goals such as Guild auditions, competitions and private recitals to further inspire their development. Class recitals are also offered throughout the year for students to practice the difficult art of performing for their peers.
My studio is located in the Westchase district of Houston, Texas, near Westpark and the Beltway.
